January 2010

This month in Beat Five, I continued to pick up illegally posted signs.  I made business checks at many locations this month, including the Pediatric Center at 1300 Main, Children’s Discovery at 1500 Main, the business center at 2116 Thompson Highway, Capital One Bank at 2120 Thompson, the Richmond Coffee Station at 210 Highway 90A, Pink Elementary School at 1001 Collins Road, Valero at 1212 FM 2218, Valero at 207 Highway 90A, TSC at 1400 FM 2218, all the businesses at 1301 FM 2218, Yucatan at 100 Liberty, Baytown Seafood, Whataburger, Video Ritmo, Taqueria Morales, Heights Mini-Mart,  Cotton Oil Company, Ft. Bend Donuts, Walgreens, Sonic, Anytime Fitness, The Thompson Clinic, Hollywood Banquet Hall, Oak Bend Hospital, Paraiso Sports Bar, Fort Bend Donuts, Copy Express, Bank of America, Taco Palenque, Richmond City Hall, Richmond City Hall Annex, IBC Bank, Helping Hands, and others.

I made close patrols of Beat Five inspecting the Beat for junk cars, un-mowed lawns and weeds, and other city ordinance violations.  One junk car was removed after my request to the owner to do so, and a second junk vehicle was located.  I left a Notice to Comply on the owner’s residence.  This junk vehicle was also removed within the ten days required.  I located a third junk vehicle in the commercial parking lot at 1500 Jackson.  I contacted the owner of the property and the vehicle was removed on January 30.

I made school visits at Juan Seguin Elementary on January 11, and January 29, and at Jane Long Elementary on January 25.  I made a bar check at 140 Collins Road and contacted TABC in reference to several violations observed.  I investigated several traffic complaints on North Second Street as a result of dump truck activity.
