Richmond Police Department
Beat 5
Officer Johnny Busby

July 2008
During the month of July, I met three more residents in Beat 05. The residents were John Harrison, Carolyn Wooten, , and Mary Ann Bryant. While speaking with Mr. Harrison and Mrs. Wooten I learned that they have both lived in beat five for over forty years. Mr. Harrison and Ms. Wooten did not have any concerns about the neighborhood when I spoke to them. While speaking to Mrs. Bryant, I learned that she’s been living in Beat 05 for over thirty years. Mrs. Bryant stated that she had no concerns about the neighborhood until someone stole the ashtray and two dollars in coin change out her husband’s car the week before. Mrs. Bryant said that the burglary had to have occurred in the early morning hours. She also said that she didn’t report the burglary to the police. I gave this information to the officers on evening and night shift so they could increase patrol. I have also started patrolling Beat 05 more frequently in the day time in an effort to locate any subjects who may be wandering around trying to find property to steal. Lastly, I went by 1215 Winston to check on a junk vehicle. While conducting beat activity last month I met with the owner regarding a junk vehicle that was on her property. She told me during that time that her son had just gotten his driver license and she was in the process of getting a timing chain for the vehicle. In return, I advised her that I would give her some time to fix the vehicle and that I would be following up on her progress. During my follow up at the residence this month I saw that the owner removed the vehicle from her property.
