Bailiff / Warrants

Officer Michael Hicks

My responsibility as the Court Bailiff and Warrant Officer entails a dual reporting role to the Municipal Court and the Police Department.  My main responsibility to the Municipal Court is to provide security for the court and its personnel and to assist with the paperwork, transport prisoners etc.

Whenever someone receives a traffic ticket or other municipal charge, they are required by state law to appear in court to answer that charge.  If they fail to meet their obligation to appear in court, after a reasonable amount of time the court will issue a warrant of arrest for that person.  My responsibility when a warrant is issued is to contact these persons, either by telephone, mail, or in person and take police action necessary to clear the warrant.

I am assisted in this by the Patrol Division, who arrest persons with warrants whenever they come into contact with them on the street.

If you have a warrant for your arrest, please contact the municipal court in person and get the warrant cleared.  If not, I will be knocking at YOUR door!
