Welcome to the Richmond Police Department’s web site.  We hope that you find our site both informative and entertaining.

The Richmond Police Department is staffed by many fine men and women who work hard 24 hours a day to provide services to the Richmond community.

The Richmond Police Department has gained a reputation as a police department that treats people with respect.  As a result the community supports the department as the officers carry out their duties in the community.  Our officers also spend considerable time meeting individuals in the community and getting to know them on a first name basis. 

Familiarity and trust have developed into a close working relationship between community members and the police department.  In Richmond each year many crimes are solved as a result of timely reports of suspicious activity by concerned citizens. 

Our officers are reminded that racial profiling is illegal and that professionalism and empathy are necessary for the proper delivery of law enforcement services in today’s society.
